Book Review: Twisted Games

To her becoming queen wasn’t a dream; it was her worst nightmare

You know, I've said it once and I’ll say it again. You gotta love a steamy trashy romance novel. They’re good for the soul. Twisted Games is the second instalment in the ‘Twisted’ series by Ana Huang. I read the first one back in December of last year and since then life has been hectic; I’ve just read two very sad books so yeah, yah girl needed some steamy mushy messy romantic books to read. And ooooo MAMA. This was exactly what the doctor ordered.

I believe I said in my last review, this series is not going to win the Nobel Prize for literature. But oh, damn does it win the award in the steaminess category. I mean, what’s not to love? A rough, tough stone-cold ex-Navy Seal with a tragic past paired up with a strong-willed Crown Princess who can only marry someone of noble birth. Bring on the heated gazes, moonlight drifting through the curtains, the air thick with forbidden desire. There is jealousy, possessiveness, rules, duty, country, lies and deceit. You get the idea, you’re in for a wild ride.

I flew through this book, it was a delight to read after long stressful days, some of the steamy scenes were a bit awkward to read in the underground… or when your dad is sitting next to you. But in terms of writing and plot? I knew how it would end, but the journey to get there and the anticipation of ensuing steaminess had me on the edge of my seat. I’ve ordered the next two books in this series because I need to know what happens next in this little universe Ana has created. They all know each other, and you get to see previous characters again. So, I hope I get to see the two protagonists again in future books. Because this book is an Adult fairy-tale and Happy Ever After doesn’t just end when you finish the book. I want more, can you tell?
