Book Review: Twisted Lies

If my thoughts were chaos, she was my anchor. They always went back to her

You know I do love this series and I devoured this book in a matter of days. This book is the final instalment of the Twisted series by Ana Huang. And honestly, I’m going to miss reading about this gang of brilliant, creative and willing-to-wait-for-the-greatest of lives, girls. This final book tells the story of Stella - an influencer who works at a tyrannical fashion magazine (in D.C and not New York which is mad, but okay). However, she has dreams of being a designer and Christian the cold, hard, morally ambiguous security service CEO, millionaire and who happens to also be Stella’s landlord. Go figure.

Ahh the tough world of influencers. Personally, they aren’t my cup of tea. But I actually like Stella: she is a ray of soft sunshine. Like she’s legit very sweet. It’s not all for show - and she has a personality that doesn’t involve constantly being on camera. but most importantly a personality. Then you have Christian; now I said ‘morally ambiguous’ but what I actually mean is, he is about as moral as the Pope is sexually active. If he wants to kill you and feed you to the dogs, he will kill you and feed you to the dogs. And get away with it.

But as with every one of our female heroines, there is always the ‘Problem’. For Ava, it was that he father is a psychopath and tried to kill her. Several times in fact. For Bridget - she had to marry a noble and not someone of her choosing. For Jules, she was being blackmailed with a sex tape that she was coerced into doing. For Stella? A mysterious and rather nefarious stalker. But then again, that’s no issue for a man who made millions providing security details for the world’s rich and famous. To Christian, it’s honestly child’s play and he will stop at nothing and smile at you whilst doing it.

I like Ana’s writing style. I do, it’s current and she’s mastered the art of the slow-burn. The anticipation of the wonderful steaminess was well executed and worth the wait. If I had to rank this book it’s probably my second favourite. With Twisted Games being the first, and Twisted Love being a close third. I do like that Ana wraps up the storyline in a nice little bow. Ava and Alex get married and have children. In fact, they all have children and live full and happy lives. Which is something we all aspire for. A great ending to a great series of books. I’ll miss them all dearly.
